Post Season Practice

Post season practice will start today and will be held on Tuesday and Thursday from 3pm to 4:30pm through November 8th. This will be a great chance for JV and Cardinal players to practice with the returning Varsity to see how things will fit together next year and will give players the chance to stay active prior to Club volleyball tryouts the week of November 14th. We will have more information about tryouts for local clubs very soon.

The US Olympic Committee has an interesting guide on sports nutrition on their website. It is not sports specific for volleyball but has lots of good information on sports nutrition.

Senior Night

Tonight is Senior Night against Kentwood. Senior Night festivities will begin about 7pm and may last a while with seven seniors. Tonight is also a "Dig Pink" night for Breast Cancer Awareness. With so many Varsity parents involved in Senior Night we need all the JV and Cardinal parents that can to help with their games.

Kentlake Grad Leads US to Pan Am Win

Excerpts from the report by USA Volleyball:

Courtney Thompson (Kentlake 2003) set Team USA to a 43.1 kill percent and .266 hitting efficiency (47-18-109). Mexico was limited to a 25.4 kill percent and .085 hitting efficiency (30-20-118). Tama Miyashiro (Kaneohe, Hawaii) provided the Americans with a team-high nine digs, while Klineman had a team-high four excellent receptions.

Team USA out-blocked Mexico 13-6 and held a 47-30 advantage in kills. Mexico managed a slim 19-18 margin in digs and totaled 29 excellent receptions on 71 attempts compared to the Americans’ 10 excellent receptions on 55 attempts.

“We knew tonight’s crowd would be way more intense than the past two days,” Klineman said of the near-capacity crowd. “Our coaches told us to embrace it and use it.”

Thompson added that the environment was special to compete in against the host team.

“Any time you get to play a game like this, it’s special,” Thompson said. “These games may happen once in a tournament. It was an honor to play Mexico here.”

KM Match Moved

The Kent-Meridian match scheduled for Thursday at Kentlake has been moved to Kent-Meridian HS.

If you remember the first match of the season was moved to Kentlake from KM because their gym was not ready yet. At the time the agreement was that the league match would not be swapped to KM, but I guess that agreement has changed.
